How did the world ever come to tolerate a profession that is as devoid of sense as the Emperor is devoid of clothing, a profession that does nothing but harm? Our motivations and emotions are encoded in DNA. There is no reason to believe that sex is a greater motivating force than needs be to propagate the race and differentiate the sexes. Theorists should bear in mind that only a survival advantage explains the evolution of human motivations and emotions. This survival advantage is to the genotype not the phenotype, of course.
